"CAN SERENA PREVAIL"

THE WINNER OF 17 GRAND SLAMS INCLUDING 6 U.S. OPEN TITLES, IS LOOKING FORWARD TO WIN BACK TO BACK AT THE U.S. OPEN'S 5 WTA TITLES THIS YEAR. MOST RECENTLY LAST WEEK OVER IVANOVIC IN CINCINNATI 6-4, 6-1.  THE WEEK BEFORE IN MONTREAL LOSING TO HER SISTER VENUS IN 3 SETS. A TOPSY TURSY SUMMER AFTER A 3RD ROUND LOST TO THE TOUGH EMOTIONAL FRENCH LADY ALIZE CORNET IN 3 SETS AND THEN APPEARED SLUGGISH IN DOUBLES WITH A TEMPORARY ILLNESS AT THE ALL ENGLAND CLUB WIMBLEDON WHERE SHE WON THIS EVENT 5  TIMES, ALSO WON IN STANFORD, CALIFORNIA AGAINST ANGELIQUE KERBER 7-6(7-1), 6-3. THESE WINS SHOWS THAT WOMEN'S TENNIS DOES HAVE LOTS OF DEPTH.  EVERY WEEK YOU JUST GOT TO FIGHT AND SERENA IS A FIGHTER LIKE AZARENKA, SHAPAPOVA, HALEP, RADWANSKA AND MANY OTHERS.

HER 1ST ROUND MATCH IS JUST ANOTHER TEST OF THE NERVES. TAYLOR TOWNSEND 18 YEARS OLD FROM GEORGIA IS A POWER PLAYER, LEFT HANDED.
COMING INTO HER OWN.  THIS MAY BE HER DAY IF SHE IS PATIENT AND CAN UTILIZE THAT BIG LEFTY SERVE. SERENA IS EMOTIONAL THIS IS HER ONLY WEAKNESS.  SO IF SHE CAN KEEP HER HEAD AS WE'VE OFTEN SEEN I AGAIN SEE HER TAKING THE THRONE AS SHE IS ON HOME SOIL IN COMFORTABLE SURROUNDINGS. IF SHE GETS TO THE FINALS WITH ANYONE I'M SURE SHE WILL SEE THE FINISH LINE.  GIRL FRIEND GOT BIG GAME!
