KONTA, VANDEWEGHE, INTO SF, WILLIAMS, LUCIC-BARONI INTO QF DOWN UNDER

JOHANNA KONTA THE 25 YEAR OLD, NO. 1 PLAYER FROM GREAT BRITAIN  IS ON A FANSTASTIC WINNING STEAK OF 8 MATCHES WINNING IN THE APIA INTERNATIONAL SYDNEY TITLE HAS WON HER LAST 18 SETS AND PLAYING WITH NO FEAR  AND FULL OF CONFIDENCE THE BRIT CLOSED OUT THE MATCH AGAINST EKATERINA MAKAROVA 6-1, 6-4 IN THE ROUND OF 16 AND WAS DOWN 0-40 BUT
BOUNCED  BACK SAVING BREAK AFTER BREAK THEN GAME SET AND MATCH!  SHE IS TO MEET THE SIX-TIME CHAMPION SERENA WILLIAMS.  BOTH WITH BIG SERVES THIS WILL BE THEIR FIRST MEETING.

COCO VANDEWEGHE DISMISSED THE NUMBER 1 PLAYER IN THE WORLDANGELIQUE KERBER 6-2, 6-3 WITH THE HELP OF FORMER NO.1 PLAYER GRAND SLAM WINNER MARTINA NAVRATILOVA IS A DEFINATE IS AN EXTRA BENEFIT.  HAS BEATEN BOUCHARD, WOZNIACKI IN BEIJING, ERANI AND THE LIST GOES ON. BUT SHE WAS NOT TO BE DENIED AS SHE STEPPED UP HER GAME BIG TIME WINNING IN JUST ONE HOUR WITH HER SERVE DELIVERING SIX ACES. HER GOAL WAS TO GET TO THE QUARTERS AND SHE DABBED HER WAY IN .  ON TOP OF THAT SHE MOVES INTO THE SEMI-FINALS TAKING DOWNNO. 7 SEED AND FRENCH OPEN CHAMPION GARBINE MUGURUZA WITH PIN POINT HITTING MOVING GARBINE FROM SIDE TO SIDE FLATENING OUT THE RETURNS DOWN THE LINE OPENING UP THE CCOURT.  THIS IS THE BEST I'VE SEEN HER PLAY.  HER CONFIDENCE LEVEL IS ZONE LIKE.  DO NOT STAND IN HER WAY THIS IS A BULLET TRAIN ON THE LOSE AS BULLIED MARGURUZA 6-4, 6-0. OUCH! SLAMMING 31 WINNERS TOOK NO PRISONERS.  IT WAS CLEAR THAT SHE WAS READY FOR THIS AS GARBINE TAPPED OUT, WAS LEFT STANDING WITH DISBELIEF AND HAD NO ANSWERS. THIS CALIFORNIAN GIRL'S NEXT MATCH IS WITH THE AWESOME VENUS WILLIAMS WHO IS PLAYING LIKE SHE'S 21! LOL

SERENA SURVIVES A FIRST SET SCARE TO MOVE INTO THE SEMI'S AGAINST BARBORA STRYCOVA FROM CZECH DEFEATING A PLAYER WITH 10 CONSECUTIVE MAJOR QUARTERFINAL APPEARANCES 7-5, 6-4. A PLAYER HARD TO READ AND A GRINDER ALMOST SHOCKED HER GIVING HER A DIFFERENT LOOK.  WITH 3 MORE MATCHES TO GO HER JOB IS NOT OVER YET.  SHE PLAYS THE NO. 1 BRIT JOHANNA KONTA WHO IS KNOCKING THE COVER OFF THE BALL.

MIRJANA LUCIC-BARONI PLAYED HER FIRST GRAND SLAM MATCH IN 19 YEARS HAD 35 WINNERS AGAINST NEW COMER JENNIFER BRADY FORMER UCLA PLAYER
EASILY 6-4, 6-2 STEPPING INTO THE QF.  THE CROATIAN LOSS ONLY SIX POINTS ON HER SERVE IN AN HOR AND TEN MINUTES.  SHE HAS A NEVER GIVE UP ATTITUDE, HAD TO DEAL WITH FINANCIAL AND PHYSICAL ISSUES AND BREAKING TIES WITH HER FATHER KEPT HER OFF THE TOUR. BUT SHES CHARGED READY TO GO AND OPIMISTIC AS SHE FACES NO. 5 SEED KAROLINA PLISKOVA NEXT WHO STUNNED SERENA AT THE 2016 US OPEN.
