WAWRINKA MELTDOWN, FEDERER SIMPLY INCREDIBLE

WHO COULD HAVE WRITTEN THE SCRIPT THAT ROGER FEDERER WOULD END UP IN THE FINALS OF THE FIRST GRAND SLAM EVENT OF THE YEAR THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN AFTER BEING LAID UP WITH A KNEE INJURY FOR SIX MONTHS THAT REQUIRED SURGERY, REHAB, TRAINING ETC.  WELL, ONLY WITH DEDICATION, COMMITEMENT AND HARD WORK IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE TO PAY AGAIN.  REMINDS ME OF WHAT ADRIAN PETERSON OVERCAME WITH THE MINNESOTA VIKINGS IN 2012 RUSHED FOR OVER 2,097 YARDS THEN BLEW HIS KNEE OUT REHABBED IT ONLY TO COME BACK IN 2013 AFTER SURGERY TO RUSH FOR 1,266 YARDS.  INCREDIBLE!  FOR ROGER IF HE HAD NOT TAKEN THE TIME AWAY IT WOULD HAVE HENDERED HIS PLAY AND WE WOULD NOT BE HERE TALKING ABOUT THE GREATEST MALE PLAYER EVER TO LIVE.  I WATCHED BOTH LADIES SEMI-FINAL , SET THE ALARM FOR ONE HOUR'S SLEEP WHATEVER THAT WAS WORTH AND HERE WE GO.  ROGER'S RECORD AGAINST WAWRINKA WAS 18-2 WITH AND WINNING ALL HARD COURT RESULTS BUT STAN BEAT ROGER IN THE QTRS AT ROLAND GARROS IN 2015 ON CLAY IN 3 SETS.  THIS TIME THE MATCH WAS 3 HOURS AND 5 MINUTES OF GLADIATOR  TENNIS DISPLAYING AMAZING ANGLES, PRECISION SERVES THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE 5 SET MATCH.  WE ALL THOUGHT FEDERER HAD IT IN THE BAG AS HE WAS UP 2 SETS TO LOVE AND WOULD RACE TO THE FINISH AND WIN THE THIRD SET EASILY BUT, NOT SO FAST SAYS STAN THE MAN.  HE WENT TO THE LOCKER ROOM CLOSE TO TEARS AFTER THE SECOND SET CAME BACK WITH A STRAP TO HIS SORE KNEE AND CAME BACK SWINGING REELING  OFF 5 GAMES AFTER BEING TIED AT 1-1 IN THE THIRD TO SHOCK ROGER.  WINNING THE THIRD SET 6-1.  GAINING MORE CONFIDENCE HE BROKE ROGER'S SERVE AGAIN TO TIE 1-1 IN THE FOURTH SERVING AT LOVE/40 FEDERER SAVED 2 BREAK POINTS WHERE THEY WERE AT 4-4 AND WAWRINKA STROKES ANOTHER CROSSCOURT WINNER  LEAVING THE CROWD IN AWE AND A 6-4 FOURTH SET THESE GUYS WOWED THE CROWD AS IT LOOKED LIKE A FINAL OF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING.

THE MELTDOWN CAME IN THE FIFTH SET OUT OF NOWHERE. THE SIXTH GAME TWO SPECTACULAR RETURNS BY ROGER A BAD BACKHAND MISS AND A DOUBLE FAULT AS HE LOST FOCUS!  THIS IS WHAT FEDERER NEEDED A LITTLE HELP FROM STAN.  BEFORE THAT YOU COULD FEEL THE TENSION BECAUSE EVERYONE WOULD LOVE TO SEE A NADAL-FEDERER FINAL BUT MAYBE AGAIN ROGER WAS ABOUT TO BE DENIED.  UP 5-2, STAN HOLDS FOR 5-3 THEN ROGER SEALED THE DEAL AS STAN SENT ONE INCHES PAST THE BASELINE TO WIN 7-5, 6-3, 1-6, 4-6, 6-3.  "STAN  CALLED THE GREATEST PLAYER TO EVER LIVE". ROGER HIT 47 WINNERS WITH THAT NEW RACQUET AND 11 ACES.  CONVERTING 4 OF 9 BREAK POINTS ENDING STAN'S 12 MATCH WINNING STREAK AT GRAND SLAMS.

THE 35 YEAR OLD FEDERER IS PLAYING VINTAGE TENNIS LOOKING YOURGER EVERY MATCH.  NOW HE MUST WAIT FOR EITHER NADAL OR DIMITROV TONIGHT.  I'M SURE HE'D RATHER SEE GRIGOR THAN RAFA BUT WITH THE FAST COURTS AND HIS LETHAL STROKES I'M BETTING ROGER CAN WIN HIS 18TH IN STYLE.  MAKING HISTORY AND THE SIMPLY THE BEST.
